TiVo AN0100 Wireless N Network Adapter (Gray)
My family purchased this for me as a Christmas gift off of my Amazon wishlist.
The pluses:
1) Simple set-up if you have a wireless N router. Plug in, press a few few buttons and your TiVo is ready to go.
2) Wireless downloading of information. My phone jack was located in a very inconvenient place. The wireless router eliminates the need for my TiVo to be plugged into a phone jack in order to download information, stream, or download movies. Please keep in mind that it doesn't eliminate wires altogether, but you don't have to have your phone jack within TiVo's reach any longer.
The minuses:
1) The price. That's the reason it was on my wishlist and not something I was willing to spend money on and purchase.
2) Netflix streaming doesn't appear to be operating that much faster, if at all. I haven't tried downloading anything from Amazon on Demand, so I can't report on that.
3) My TiVo lost its network connection the other day and didn't record one of my shows because it was offline. Luckily, I discovered this and quickly reconnected. This never happened my my TiVo was connected directly to the router.
Overall, I wouldn't drop $80 on this item. I'm glad I got it as a gift and it's nice to be able to place my TiVo wherever I'd like as opposed to where a phone jack dictates.
