Vivitek D511 2600 Lumen XGA HDMI 120Hz 3D-Ready Portable DLP Projector (White)
Don't get me wrong, there's room for improvement but for the price tag this little projector delivers.
Let's start with the sound, I agree this projector does not have audio out, but this was not an issue with me, when using HDMI with my laptop because you can use smart audio software to disable the projector audio and send the sound straight to your laptop speakers or external speakers plug in to your laptop. I have Windows 7 and using a P500 Toshiba satellite laptop. I was able to connect this using a HDMI cable to both my DIRECTV HD receiver and laptop w/HD and get 1080i picture with a 100+" 16:9 widescreen within approximately a 15 to 17 feet distance.
If you can afford something more expensive I would say go for it, if you're looking for true 720P or 1080P HD. However if you're on a tight budget this little projector is great and the picture does not disappoint even for HD.
I am so happy I settled for this and did not spend so much more to get an HD (labeled) projector.
This is very portable and I am using a regular camera tripod as a stand, and the whole experience is just awesome.
