Were I simply interested in Blu-ray disc playback I would have given this machine a 5-star rating. As I own several Blu-ray discs from outside Region One I had previously experienced hit-or-miss playback problems with my PSP3. Some would play, others would not. This machine plays them all, and beautifully. 

Now, although the BDP-33FD is great for all my Blu-ray discs it is Region One specific for regular DVDs. This is a problem when a title is only available from other regions and only on DVD. Because I already have a region-free DVD player I am still able to watch whatever I want, but it would have been ideal to have one Blu-ray/DVD player rather than two. Boo-hoo-hoo, I know. But consider your space limitations and another set of audio/video connections before you add another component to the array already congesting your AV center. 

Let me be clear, the criticism I have is with my situation and not with this excellent machine. I think that anyone who purchases the Pioneer BDP-33FD will consider their money well-spent. As do I.
