Sylvania NB620SL1 Wireless Enabled Blu-Ray Disc Player Black
A couple of months ago I was lucky enough to get a great Magnavox blu ray player (model 5130) at the Black Friday sale at Walmart. They'd advertised the 5120 for $69, but the ad said it could stream from Netflix and it actually couldn't. So they gave me the next model up for $69, instead of the regular price of $119. I love that blu ray player! It was easy to set up, easy to upgrade the software, and everything on it works perfectly. We watched our first vudu movie on it last week, and I was amazed at the picture quality streaming wirelessly to my bedroom TV. When it came time to get a blu ray player for the living room I wanted to buy another of the same model, partly because I was pleased with this one, but also so the rest of my family would have an easier time with the remotes and settings. But Walmart's price was back up to $119 and Amazon didn't even sell it. Needless to say, I was somewhat disappointed. So I went on Amazon and tried to find one with similar features at a good price.
I know what you're thinking: what does any of this have to do with the Sylvania blu ray player? Well, I ordered this one because it had similar features to the Magnavox, a better price, and was highly reviewed. It came in the mail yesterday, and I unboxed it and hooked it up. Imagine my surprise when I realized it IS the Magnavox player! Sure the case front is slightly different, but it has exactly the same software, features, and settings. It even has the EXACT same remote, just with Sylvania printed on it instead of Magnavox. The remotes are interchangable, and that's a good thing because I couldn't find a code to program my Directv remote for the Sylvania, so I just used the Magnavox code and it works perfectly. Everything works exactly (and I mean exactly) like the Magnavox and I'm just as happy as a clam (I know, I know...clams don't watch blu ray...but if they did, they'd love this player). Wireless setup is a snap, Netflix setup was even easier than a snap, and so far it's played everything perfectly. I did have an issue with one DVD having the sound out of sync, but a little googling revealed it was the DVD not the player.
So in the end I got everything I wanted..a great wireless blu ray player, one that exactly matches my other box, for a terrific price.
