Sony SMP-N100 Network Media Player with Wi-Fi

Sony SMP-N100 Network Media Player with Wi-Fi
I had some reservations about spending nearly a hundred bucks to get a box for my wife's tv. Then I thought about it. We used to spend $180 per month for cable tv, phone, and Internet; then we got rid of cable and switched providers for phone and Internet and got our monthly bill down to $50 or $60. This box would be less than one month's worth of the stuff we had decided we couldn't afford anymore, and it would allow us to use Netflix which would only cost an affordable $10 per month. Hmm.

So, first I decided to try Netflix on the computer. Wow what a selection! I immediately realized that I needed to make that available on my wife's TV--she is addicted to her movies.

But which box? Turned out that most of the cheaper ones did not come with built-in wifi and that ruled them out for us. A couple more were knocked out because they didn't have audio outputs--in addition to expanded programming I was looking for a way to improve the sound from our tv at the same time.

I picked this Sony unit, and my only regret is that I waited so long to do it. Getting it to connect to the wifi was quite easy, getting it set up with Netflix not difficult, and from there on it just works.

This is an attractive unit, well designed, and a great performer.
