Samsung SSG-P2100S (Shrek) 3D Starter Kit (Black)

Samsung SSG-P2100S (Shrek) 3D Starter Kit (Black)
I purchased the samsung 50' plasma 3D tv and was offered this kit for free. Certainly can not beat getting a pair of glasses and 4 movies all for free!

Anyway, the box came shipped as it should. You get the first three shrek movies with a redemption code for the fourth. I handled mine online via samsung (address on the box) and my fourth movie was here within about 2 or 3 weeks via USPS.

I'm not a big fan of having to wear glasses for 3D, but surprisingly these glasses are not all that uncomfortable. I was concerned that they would be heavy because of the battery, but now I know that they use a CMOS battery (Tiny about the size of a quarter) so weight is not an issue. I don't think that these glasses would work well for those who already have to wear glasses, they just do not seem large enough to accommodate a traditional set underneath.

I have children, the ones old enough wear these glasses and they fit just fine, so if you are unsure if you want the kids size or the regular both should be sufficient. Mine are 7 and 10. From my understanding you should not allow children whose eyes have not fuly developed wear the 3D glasses, I don't know what research has gone into it, but makes sense to me.

Another concern a lot of people have is the sync issues. Luckily, I have not been plagued with any sort of sync complications. I don't know if it is the glasses or the TV that ultimately cause the issue but either way I do NOT have it. Occasionally, it may take a second for it to sync, but that is a non-issue.

Also, if you do not know. Samsung no longer uses IR for their new line of TVs rather they will be incorporating a bluetooth setup, so if you haven't done so already you may want to consider getting the glasses before they are phased out. I know I'm going to get another couple pairs soon before its too late myself.

3D: The 3d effects produced from the glasses are great. The detail really shines though depending on the set you own. The thing I noticed most when compared to the movies is that there is more depth with TV 3D. The movies it seems it is more about things popping out of the screen. With the TV it is not only what pops out of the screen, but also creating a sense of depth within the TV. I suppose they accommodate for the lack of a 80+ screen so they added this effect, either way pretty cool!

All in all, very happy with the glasses. Would I buy the whole set, probably it is a pretty good deal considering you get 4 movies and 2 glasses. If you are not a fan of the shrek series or don't have kids skip the box set and just pick up the glasses. Either the samsung version or the ultra clear 3D series. Bother are compatible and great!
