Roku XDS Streaming Player 1080p
I bought this Roku XDS last week and hooked it up right away. It took literally 5 minutes to plug in the HDMI cable to my HDTV, put the batteries in the remote, and plug in the power supply. My home network recognized the Roku right away and did a firmware update. Then I began adding channels. I even found some private channels through a search I did on Google. Some of the channels, both public and private, require a subscription. These subscriptions are usually very minimal. The only issue I have had with the Roku has been the connection. I have a wireless connection at 2mbps and am using a Belkin Wireless N router but the connection has still been iffy at times. Some days certain channels work great and then other days the connection won't last. I probably need to upgrade to a higher internet speed than 2mbps but I am going to keep working with it first. I have made sure that the router is clear of obstructions and I am going to move the Roku to a different location by my TV to see if that helps. But all in all it has great potential to replace my cable bill if I can get my network to be more reliable.
