PIONEER DV-220V-K 1080p HDMI UPSCALING REGION FREE DVD PLAYER w/ USB Input
I needed a new DVD player after I purchased an HD TV. I had previously bought one in Taiwan for $100 so I could watch my imported Chinese and Japanese movies. However the one I got in Taiwan had no HDMI output and the colors were all messed up, and since I couldn't return it I was screwed. I did my research before I ordered another one and I found this Pioneer one. It works perfectly, there are no issues with any region as far as I've tested it. The remote is a bit clunky, but the menus are easy to understand and navigate. I had mine working on the correct output in under 5 minutes.
One word of caution, since this DVD player uses an electrical converter for US plugs, you may get a bit of a spark as you plug it in.
