MAGNAVOX MDR513H/F7 HDD and DVD Recorder with Digital Tuner Black

MAGNAVOX MDR513H/F7 HDD and DVD Recorder with Digital Tuner Black
I have had this recorder in place for several weeks now and have found it to be an excellent value. When I was researching it, I found of Review that indicated it did not work on COMCAST (now xfinity....they have angered enough people that changing their name was the only way out.) Anyway it does work on Comcast without a cable box. I have my Magnavox plugged directly into the Comcast coax with another piece of coax and a HDMI cable continuing on to my LG 52 in flat panel. During setup the Magnavox scans first for analog and then for DTV (digital) channels. And it finds all the unscrambled digital channels (e.g. 2.1, 4.1, 7.1, 9.1, etc) and can be setup to record to the harddrive.

No tivo features here; you need to look up the time and channel of each program to record and set it up.

And on playback it always show 720p as the HQ setting of the recorded show. Usually I hope for 1080p.
But at 720 I get 60 hours on a 350GB drive with an acceptable image. It's not quite as good as the image on my TV direct from the coax.
