ASUS O!Play Air - Wireless N TV HD Media Player
I waded thru specs, reviews, and comments on several media players before selecting the O!Play. I like the size, and the remote is very easy to handle, even at 68 years old. My wife and I, inlaws, neighbors, and neices and nephews have all had a chance to plug something into the O!Play and it responded nicely every time. When starting, it's running before my TV screen lights up, and the network hookup (hard wire) was a breeze. Movies pixelate ocassionally on my 10/100 ethernet, so i've ordered a gigabit switch - that should take care of that. Otherwise, the picture sent to the TV screen is very sharp and color accurate: no ghosting, nice blacks, sharp edges, and no discernable (electrical) noise. It does not degrade the quality of media it passes thru to your TV . I am not interested in any of the current on-line features so no comment there. It reads all my cards fine , even my ancient memory stick. Access to USB devices seems pretty fast, especially my SATA harddrive. I'm really quite happy, and I have other ASUS products that have served me well. One thing I noticed is the AllPlay menu selection is a little tricky to use. Maybe I'm navigating wrong, but I have to back out of a folder with mixed content and re-open it to switch from one type media to another (i.e., from from photo to video, etc.). Not a problem since I separate media types by directory anyway ( of course, un-named others using my O!Play toss everything in one huge folder, slowing access a bit!).
